St Ann PREP

Good afternoon Tuesday PREP parents,

Happy Easter!

Tuesday, May 8th is the final session of our 2011-12 PREP year. I am looking forward to this special time of prayer and fellowship.

Due to the impending weather forcasted for later this afternoon and into the evening, the decision has been made to hold tonight's Ice Cream Social in Griffin Hall.

PLEASE NOTE: Tuesday PREP Closing will still take place in Chapel beginning at 6:25pm. ALL children are to be signed out from Chapel and walked, by their parents/guardians. over to Griffin Hall for the Ice Cream Social. Teachers will not be escorting children to Griffin Hall.

PARENTS: If you are not staying at Chapel for the Closing - you must return to Chapel no later than 7pm in order to ensure that your child has an adult to sign them out.

  • Our PREP Closing this Tuesday is in Chapel followed by an Ice Cream Social in Griffin Hall. The Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary will begin in Chapel at 6:15pm. Please be mindful of the prayerful atmosphere as you enter Chapel with your families.
  • Students are to locate, and sit with, their class. Pews will be marked. Family members should sit in unmarked pews. If you choose not to stay, please return to Chapel no later than 7pm in order for all students to be signed out. Please join us with your child in Griffin Hall for Ice Cream and soft pretzels. Students will not be taken to Griffin Hall by teachers.
  • The blue PREP bin will be located in the back of Chapel. Please utilize this for any outstanding Absence Notes, 2012-13 PREP Registrations, or other communications. ANY COMMUNICATIONS REGARDING A CHANGE IN DISMISSAL FOR TOMORROW NIGHT MUST BE GIVEN TO YOUR CHILD'S TEACHER IMMEDIATELY UPON ARRIVAL.
  • Students will be given a final progress report to be taken home. This report need not be signed and sent back. Please contact the Director with any questions.
  • Thank you for a wonderful PREP year! It takes a team of helpers to make this program what it is. We continue to grow, in ways that cannot always be counted, and it's neat to see children who were once so young and new to PREP become role models for the next group... and so on. We each learn from each other; please know that everyone's contribution matters!

    This week in focus
    Fifth Sunday of Easter

Do we reveal who God really is?
It may have been a bit of a shock to Catholics when, near the end of the Second Vatican Council, the council fathers wrote that believers themselves bore some responsibility for the rise of atheism in the world (Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, 19).

Yet, a gospel reading such as we have this Sunday, which emphasizes the unity and relationship between Christian disciples and their risen Lord, makes it clear that we can either reveal or conceal who God really is by how we express our faith to others and how we live our lives. Those observing us may be either inspired or scandalized, depending on what we do.

By believing in Jesus Christ and loving one another, we behave in a way worthy of our call to communion with God. These two parts of God's one "commandment" must be fulfilled in a way that each authenticates the other. Our actions must support our words. This is one case in which it's definitely not "just the thought that counts."

We want our lives to be fruitful and authentic. We want to lead others to God, not drive them away. How fortunate for us, then, that we have Jesus giving us life from within, a divine vine-grower working lovingly to bring the very best out of each one of us, and a Spirit testifying to the abiding divine presence in our midst.
