St Ann PREP
Good morning Sunday PREP parents,
Happy Easter!
Sunday, May 6th is the final session of our 2011-12 PREP year. I am looking forward to this special time of prayer and fellowship.
Our PREP closing this Sunday is in Griffin Hall. Select 6th graders will lead us in the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary beginning at 10:30am. You are welcome to come a little early or join us at the usual 10:45 start time. Please be mindful of the prayerful atmosphere as you enter Griffin Hall with your families.
Seating will be available for both students and families. Students are to locate, and sit with, their class. Rows will be marked. Rows intended for family member seating will also be marked.
Teachers will be taking attendance. Sign out sheets will be located on a separate table in grade level order and must be signed prior to leaving with your child(ren). The blue PREP bin will also be there for any outstanding Absence Notes, 2012-13 PREP Registrations, or other communications.
Students will be given a final progress report to be taken home. This report need not be signed and sent back. Please contact the Director with any questions.
Please stay for ice cream! Parents are asked to keep all children inside the building. Children are not to play outdoors and/or in adjacent parking areas as these can be areas of high traffic and present a real physical danger to the children.
If you are not staying for the Closing, please note that all parents must be back at Griffin Hall no later than 11:30 . This will ensure that children have an adult present as we finish our program.
We ask that families assist in clean-up as the gathering comes to an end. Chairs will need to be folded and placed back on carts, tables folded, etc. Please lend a hand where you see a need.
Thank you for a wonderful PREP year! It takes a team of helpers to make this program what it is. We continue to grow, in ways that cannot always be counted, and it's neat to see children who were once so young and new to PREP become role models for the next group... and so on. We each learn from each other; please know that everyone's contribution matters!

This week in focus
Fifth Sunday of Easter
Do we reveal who God really is?
It may have been a bit of a shock to Catholics when, near the end of the Second Vatican Council, the council fathers wrote that believers themselves bore some responsibility for the rise of atheism in the world (Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, 19).
Yet, a gospel reading such as we have this Sunday, which emphasizes the unity and relationship between Christian disciples and their risen Lord, makes it clear that we can either reveal or conceal who God really is by how we express our faith to others and how we live our lives. Those observing us may be either inspired or scandalized, depending on what we do.
By believing in Jesus Christ and loving one another, we behave in a way worthy of our call to communion with God. These two parts of God's one "commandment" must be fulfilled in a way that each authenticates the other. Our actions must support our words. This is one case in which it's definitely not "just the thought that counts."
We want our lives to be fruitful and authentic. We want to lead others to God, not drive them away. How fortunate for us, then, that we have Jesus giving us life from within, a divine vine-grower working lovingly to bring the very best out of each one of us, and a Spirit testifying to the abiding divine presence in our midst.
